Information for Leaders
We are working hard to make Gilwell 24 a sucessful event for everyone including the Leaders are drivers that bring the participants to the event.
What does my £10 get me?
The fee covers your camp fees, the opportunity to take part in a couple of special sessions on some of the more popular activities and your event t-shirt. It also provides you with access to the leaders area with plenty of tea and coffee.
Does our unit need to arrive wearing uniform?
Yes, all groups should wear uniform shirts and scarf on arrival. This is a site policy and also helps us improve the security of the site on Friday night and Saturday morning.
When we will get our T-Shirts?
This year all t-shirts will be handed out on arrival at check-in
What facilities are available for Leaders

Attend a First Aid course (* subject to confirmation we will be running some 4 hour courses)
Attend a Training Module Course (*subject to confirmation)

Unfortunately due to the nature of the event there will not be a bar on the Saturday night
Will the bar be open?
The WhiteHouse bar will be open on Friday night providing staff are available it willnot be open during the actual 24 hour event.
Should we allow Explorers to bring / buy / acquire / consume alcohol?
We have received new guidance in May 2006 that the Scout Associations policy has changed an no alcohol should be consumed by those under the age of 18.
Where is the Leaders area going to be
The leaders area will be located in the International Centre Foyer which is located directly behind the White House.
My group is arriving Friday do we need to bring a tent or will there be indoor accommodation for us?
You will need to bring a tent, the fee covers camping on the Friday night and we already have more Explorers booked in to stay then we could accommodate in buildings.
I don't really want to sit around drinking coffee for 24 hours is there something I can do?
Last year we were approached by a small group of leaders who had become bored with drinking coffee and watching their own Explorers enjoy the activities and wanted something to do. We are going to establish two ways of helping at the event.
a) Planned help - you let us know you are willing to help in advance, what you would like to do, for how long and what qualifications you have. [Current vacancies]
b) ad-hoc help - you decide during the event you would like to help with something. We plan to have a board in the leaders are with opportunities and jobs you can do.
I have other questions you don't seem to have answered anywhere what should I do
We do try and think of everything but if you have any other questions please drop us an email to info@gilwell24.info or click on the live chat on the top right or this page and ask your question now.
